How to Make Super Crispy Chicken — Taught by Korean Friend!

Korean Fried Chicken is famous for its super crispy crust and delicious sauces. Here's a simple recipe you can try at home. You can enjoy it plain or add a sweet & spicy sauce!


📝 Ingredients (2–3 servings)

Korean Fried Chicken Ingredients

🍗 For the chicken:

  • 500g chicken wings or drumettes
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp rice wine (optional)
  • 1/2 cup potato starch (or cornstarch)
  • 1 egg (optional)
  • Oil for frying

🌶️ For the sauce (optional – Korean sweet & spicy):

  • 2 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tbsp gochujang (Korean chili paste)
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp sugar or honey
  • 1 tbsp minced garlic
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • Sesame seeds (for garnish)


🍳 Instructions

  1. Prep the chicken
    Clean the chicken and pat it dry. Season with salt, pepper, and rice wine. Let it sit for 10–15 minutes.
  2. Coat the chicken
    Add an egg if using, then coat evenly with potato starch. Shake off the excess.
  3. First fry
    Heat oil to 160–170°C (320–340°F). Fry chicken for 5–6 minutes until lightly golden. Remove and let rest for 5 minutes.
  4. Second fry
    Increase oil temp to 180°C (356°F). Fry again for 2–3 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
  5. (Optional) Make the sauce
    In a pan, mix all sauce ingredients. Simmer on low heat for 2–3 minutes.
  6. Toss & serve
    Toss fried chicken in sauce or serve plain. Sprinkle sesame seeds. Done!
